When winter come in the form of cold weather and no snow, this something that can add a little light and joy to your porch. By adding something simple, such as luminaries, on your porch steps, a touch of the season is adding flair to your house.

This is something that can be created by raiding your storage unit. By utilizing a pair of skates, an old time sled, and some garland, a picture perfect decoration is created!

This is what I my dream house would look like, decorations included. The rustic nature of these decorations are a great addition and compliment to this type of house, as it correlates with style of the house. One day, I will live in a house like this!

One Day...

One day I will have a house like this and be able to decorate it as such!! As I sit in my apartment that is approximately 10x12, I dream of the day that I can have a house that allows for beautiful and elegant decorations. How To Properly Wreath

The holiday season means one thing: wreaths. In my family, we put wreaths on all of the doors in the house. Bedroom doors,  outside doors, bathroom doors: all are adorned with wreaths. Let's check out some of the best wreaths of the season that you can easily replicate!

This one is for the winos out there! If you are able to save the corks of all those bottles of wine that you drink throughout the year (and we know that's a lot...). Simply use a wire wreath frame and hot clue these corks to the frame. This is the best decoration to make while drinking wine--you're contributing to the Christmas cheer!

This wreath is easier to make than it looks! A simple wreath is sometimes the most gorgeous. In this instance, you can buy everything at your local Michael's or Hobby Lobby. If you buy wooden letters and a wreath that is already created, you are able to simply use twine and hot glue to attach the letters. Voila! You have a wreath!

Kitchen Cohorts

It's official: I'm back for a second post. If you are like me, you have grand ideas but don't know how to implement them. Thankfully, Google is here to save the day (as am I!). The kitchen can be the hardest room to decorate, in my opinion. Many times, it is the gathering point for family and friends, as it hosts the food and wine (the essentials, really), so how do you decorate it to provide a comfortable atmosphere that is organized in an efficient manner.

Until we can all get our dream kitchen, it is important to use the space we have as efficiently as possible. So, channel your inner IKEA, and let's figure out how to save space in your kitchen!

If counter space  is tight, it is best way to create more space is to hang utensils--and everything else that is possible to hang--on the wall. By utilizing the wall space to your advantage, it opens up the counter and provides a great statement piece. For example, something as simple as an old rake provides organization, decoration, and space.

There are many ways to store pots, pans, and lids that can declutter your kitchen. By adding simple additions to existing cabinets, you will never have to worry about not having space for your pot lids.

After much cajoling from friends and family, I have decided to join the blogging world! Let me introduce myself quickly before starting today's post.

My name is Nat Simons. Similar to many other bloggers, this will be my hobby, so I apologize in advance for the irregular blogging schedule. This blog will primarily be about home decor. I will be providing tips and tricks to make your house or apartment as wonderfully decorated as possibly without breaking the bank. Let's start!

Since the holiday season is just beginning (how is it already November?!), let's talk about setting the perfect Thanksgiving table. If you are like me, Thanksgiving is the holiday that requires the best tablescape since that is where your family spends all their time! It needs to be elegant, but not take up the whole table (there are plates to fill with food, people!) Below, please see some of the best tablescapes that Pinterest has to offer! :)

Sometimes simple is the best approach. By having candles (or better yet, battery operated candles) lining the table, the effect is a subdued elegance. Adding greenery scattered alongside the candles adds more depth to the tablescape. Though it is added here in this picture, these candles could stand along and still have a startling effect.

This tablescape is a bit daunting, even for a home decor enthusiast like myself. Through trials and tribulations, though, this tablescape provides a stunning center piece for the best holiday of the year (just me?).  By introducing statement pieces at varying heights, it keeps this table design from becoming too crowded and congested. Whereas the first tablescape I showcased is simple, this is a more complex design, and one hopefully created by things found in the house! This is another instance where battery operated candles (less of a chance for fire and wax drippings!) would work to finish this tablescape. As you can see above, there are many items on this table, but they don't extend past the center of the table. Ample room for food-laden plates. :)
